Citizens For a Better Grand Bay
 ~ Who We Are ~

We are a volunteer organization dedicated to making Grand Bay a better and safer community.  Since 1998, the Citizens for A Better Grand Bay, a volunteer community group, has been working to make the Grand Bay Community a better place to live. Incorporated in 2000 as a non-profit 501(3)(c) organization.

A few of Citizens For a Better Grand Bay's projects are:

Grand Bay-St. Elmo Senior and Community Center

With the cooperation of the Mobile County School Board and Commissioner Mike Dean, the communities of Grand Bay and St. Elmo the  Senior/Community center was opened in May 2005. Grand Bay St. Elmo Senior & Community Center

The building project is funded through a HUD block grant and the Mobile County Commission.

We gladly accept any monetary donations to help pay for furnishings, utilities and maintenance of the building and grounds and general funding of the community/senior center

We are always looking for volunteers to help with the Senior Center programs which include serving meals for seniors at the Center and helping with activities such as arts and crafts and games.

The building is also available for private functions. Call 251-865-4010 for information on the Senior Meal Program and prices and scheduling for the Community Center Rental.

Walk For The Memories

Walk for the Memories is a walk and fundraiser for the American Cancer Society held in honor of the ones  who   have died from cancer-related illness. It was started in memory of Karen Poiroux and is held each year in the Spring.

Country Christmas

Country Christmas is held the first weekend in December each year beginning with the Community Open House, the Holiday Parade of Lights and the Angel Tree.

The Parade of Lights is held the first Saturday of each December at 7 p.m.. Over 80 entries participate in the parade, all decorated with lights. Everyone is welcome to join the fun!

The Angel Tree takes care of those children who would be without a special Christmas. The names are received from the counselors at Castlen Elementary, Breitling Elementary, and Grand Bay Middle School. This year over 160 angels were granted a wonderful Christmas from the people of Grand Bay! School age children and siblings in their family up to twelve years old are eligible. Angels available for sponsoring can be picked up at the CVS Pharmacy in Grand Bay in early November.
